Field Service - Rob Lee

Some needs have been voiced.  Wyoming has a need that has not been met for Glorieta Wyoming Style.  West Virginia has a need for tour members.  Dakotas has needs.

Iowa, Illinois have been met during the year.

Rob asked if there are critical needs that need to be voiced at this meeting:  none.

Technology - Randy Tompkins

Members were asked to visit the web site and make sure the information in the member section was correct.  If a new picture needs to replace the one that is on that page please send a digital picture (or a glossy and it will be returned) to Randy Tompkins.  Also look at the links page to make sure the link to your state convention web site is the one you want to display.  The Technology Committee will have a full report in May.

Financial - Randy Tompkins

As of 12-2-02 the balance in the checking account was $11,182.97.  There will be some additional expense in 2003 at the May meeting over what was spent for the 2002 May meeting due to the personal development speaker that has been enlisted.  Also we are trying to build the funds in order to assist anyone needing financial help in 2004 to travel to Hawaii.  Alan Raughton has provided funds to assist pioneer state directors with travel to Louisville in 2003.  As soon as he gives Randy the budget number information will be sent to those directors on how to make their travel arrangements.  Alan is also going to attempt to up the amount slightly for 2004 to help with travel to Hawaii.

2003 May Meeting - Darryl Wilson

Dates are 13-15, 2003.  Darryl presented a packet of material.  Claudia Sanders is suggested for dinner for one evening.  Darryl also suggested diner on a riverboat one evening.  The option is a diner theater.  Riverboat was the choice.  The meeting will be at the KBC building.  Hotel rooms are $65 per night.  Registration will be available on line.  Darryl will e-mail everyone with that information.

Thom Rainer will be the personal development leader.  Those sessions will be held on Wednesday morning time.

The Greater Louisville Convention Center web site has a lot of information.

Spouse activities will be planned.

The dates for 2004 are May 12-14.

Associational Work - Keith Wilkinson

Met with Mark Miller, Phil Miller, and Jim Gifford in New Orleans.  Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama,

LifeWay is in the process of development of some material.  John Gardner is leading the development of this material.

SSDA could develop material for states that did not have resources to develop their own material.  There will be six questions addressed:

What is the purpose of Associational work?

What is my job?

How do I get started?

What are the needs of the churches?

What tools are available to meet needs?

How do I measure progress?

Perhaps include some how to ideas.  Possibly a companion piece that is very basic on how to do Sunday School work.

The group encouraged the work group to continue on the path they are moving.  There is no deadline set as of yet.  Keith & Phil said they felt they could have it pulled together in January.

Keith stated he didn't feel the material developed by SSSDA would not conflict with what LifeWay was developing.

Questions & Answers - Clyde

Randy spoke with David Cunningham and was asked to pass along to the SSSDA appreciation for the e-mails, phone calls, and cards that have been sent.  He really appreciates this group and wants to continue to stay in contact.

Sam Cottar expressed appreciation for the contacts from the members of the association during his recent surgery.

Question was asked as to the possibility of working with churches while we are in Hawaii.  Clyde will be working on this possibility.
